Repsol Donates $12,000 to Lackawanna College’s School of Petroleum and Natural Gas to Fund Scholarships
Lackawanna College is proud to announce a $12,000 donation from Repsol, a global energy company, to fund scholarships for students in the School of Petroleum and Natural Gas (PNG). The donation will support four students with $3,000 scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. These scholarships can be used for tuition, textbooks, state-of-the-art equipment, and other materials related to their courses.
Supporting Future Professionals in the Energy Sector
The scholarships are designed to reduce the financial burden for students, allowing them to focus more on their studies and career development. The financial support helps students access essential resources like specialized training, equipment, and real-world learning experiences that are important for success in the energy industry.
“The Repsol scholarship plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience of our PNG students at Lackawanna College. By alleviating financial burdens, these scholarships allow students to focus more fully on their studies and professional development. This support enables students to access specialized training, cutting-edge resources, and hands-on learning experiences critical for their success in the energy sector,”Lackawanna College School of PNG Associate Program Director Jeremy Yadlosky said. “With the growing demand for highly skilled professionals in the energy sector, this support helps ensure that our students graduate with a competitive edge and are well-prepared to enter the workforce as qualified, capable professionals.”
To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time or part-time in the School of PNG, maintain good academic standing, write an essay, and complete their FAFSA before the application deadline. Recipients can receive up to $1,500 per semester ($3,000 annually) to help them work toward their degrees.
“These scholarships are not only an investment in students’ education, but also in the future of the energy industry. By providing financial support, we hope to alleviate some of the burdens students face and allow them to focus on gaining the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to succeed. The following students have been selected as the first recipients of the Repsol Scholarship:
• Brendan Rucks, Jessup, PA – First-year undergraduate student
• Nicholas Grover, Blakely, PA – First-year undergraduate student
• Seth Raymer, Wapwallopen, PA – First-year undergraduate student
• Jacob Savignano, Dallas, PA – First-year undergraduate student

The School of Petroleum and Natural Gas is located at the Tunkhannock Center for students wanting a career in the energy industry. The student-to-faculty ratio is 16 to 1, giving students individualized attention and hands-on experience in their education. The school offers several different education options for students to choose from in the world of PNG, such as an associate’s degree in Petroleum & Natural Gas Business Administration or Petroleum & Natural Gas Technology.
