FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
The FAFSA is used to apply for all need-based aid. The information is used to calculate all financial aid awards for the student. Make sure to list Lackawanna College (school code: 003283) on your FAFSA application. Complete the current or upcoming academic year FAFSA at: www.studentaid.gov. The FAFSA application is estimated to be available by December 1st. When should I file? PA residents must file the FAFSA before May 1st. Non-residents should file as soon as they know they are interested in attending college. What will I need? Students and parents should have their own FSA ID to complete the FAFSA and other federal requirements.
Pennsylvania State Grant (PA Resident)
Complete the FAFSA before May 1st! After you submit the FAFSA, a link should direct you to complete your state grant application. Follow the instructions OR go directly to the PHEAA website (www.pheaa.org) to complete the state grant application.
Reciprocal State Grant/Scholarship Information (Out-of-State)
An out-of-state student must complete the FAFSA and be a legal resident of that state. Use a link below for your respective state for qualifications and deadlines. SFS will be notified of potential funds once your application is processed. Funds will be added to your financial aid offer and a revised letter will be emailed to you, and, finally, the award will be disbursed to your account when funding is received by SFS.

Additional Financial Aid Resources
Parent Plus Loans are applied for by the parent of a dependent undergraduate student who is enrolled at least half-time (6 credits). Additional information and the application can be found on www.studentaid.gov. Parent must log in by using their own FSA ID and password.
Private Student Loans are from a bank, a credit union, or an online lender rather than the federal government. Private student loans are best used to fill a payment gap after a student has maxed out their federal loans.
Lackawanna Scholarships – Lackawanna awards a variety of merit scholarships for many of our degree programs. Scholarships are available for both new and continuing students, and can be applied for by visiting LC Scholarships. Athletic scholarships are also available and student athletes should inquire directly with their Recruiting Coach and the Athletics Department at athletics@lackawanna.edu.

Entrance Counseling
Entrance Counseling is a review of Federal Student Loans and needs to be completed if you will be utilizing loans before the loans can be disbursed. Counseling is completed on www.studentaid.gov. A demo for completing. A Counseling Demo can be viewed at FSA Counseling Demo.
Master Promissory Note (MPN)
A Master Promissory Note (MPN) is a document signed by a borrower promising to repay a Federal Student Loan(s). The MPN is completed on www.studentaid.gov. For a student, the MPN Demo can be viewed at Student MPN Demo on FSA and for a Parent at Parent MPN Demo on FSA.
