Lackawanna College to hold CSR planning event
Lackawanna College wants to make a bigger impact socially in the areas of sustainable communities, health and wellness, and equality and diversity.
To do that, College officials are inviting faculty and staff to a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) community planning event to seek input for the creation of a document that will help guide Lackawanna.
The community planning event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Venture Lab at Angeli Hall at the Scranton campus.
The event will focus on three goals as officials formulate the CSR plan. Those include identifying what the College is already doing in the three areas, gathering best practices from other companies when looking at their CSR programs and outcomes and deciding how to track the College’s progress and impact.
The event resulted from initial discussions with faculty and staff where they looked at eight areas and narrowed it down to those three to focus on.
Larger corporations have had CSRs for awhile as a way to ensure they are meeting the needs of the communities in which they serve. Although not typical for a college Lackawanna’s size, officials decided to create a CSR to be on the forefront of change.
