Lackawanna’s Medical Billing and Coding Certificate program teaches students the necessary tools to play a vital role in connecting healthcare providers, patients and insurance companies.

The certificate is a 525-hour professional program that focuses on skills and coding competencies used in settings such as hospitals and physician practices. This program offers courses with an updated curriculum covering the latest coding standards. Those standards will change in the United States from the International Classification of Diseases version 10 (ICD-10) to ICD-11 standards on January 1, 2022.

The Course Work

We teach our medical billing and coding classes from the practitioner’s perspective. The curriculum covers the latest coding standards and prepares students to take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam.

Lackawanna also added a Spanish for the Medical Front Office component that will teach medical front-office professionals crucial phrases that can help with Spanish-speaking individuals.
