Golf Tournament Provides Scholarships for Towanda Center Students

TOWANDA – The Lackawanna College Towanda Center 11th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament was once again deemed a success as funds were raised to help two current students further their education.  The tournament was played on July 30.

The tournament was formed to provide funding for scholarships for area students to pay for tuition and books.  This year’s recipients were Abigail Wells and Kaila Colon.

Lackawanna College was fortunate to get a beautiful day at the Towanda Country Club.  56 golfers enjoyed a cookout lunch provided by Chesapeake Energy.  After hitting the links, The Daily Review provided the golfers and guests dinner at the Clubhouse.

Winning Teams
1st Place – Comfort  Inn  Team  (Score 57)
2nd Place – C and N Bank Team (Score 62)
3rd Place – Northern Tier Counseling Team (Score 63)

Skins were won by Comfort Inn Team on holes #4 and #15 and by the Robinson Team on hole #10.

Long Drive for the women was won by Cindy Robinson.  Long Drive for the men was won by Cody White.   The straightest drive on hole 9 for the women was won by Megan Callahan and by Bill Ogden for the men.

Closest to the Pin on Hole #2 was won by Midge Kershner; Hole # 4 was won by Gregg Murrelle; Hole # 14 was won by Linda Messner; and Hole # 16 was won by Tom Ryan.
