The Theater

Through a $2.4 million renovation that began in 1996 through Scranton architectural firm Hemmler + Camayd, Lackawanna College rescued the theater of the former Scranton Central High School from years of neglect and disrepair. The Theater’s wall and ceiling ornamentation, glass windows, exit signs, and seats were carefully refurbished and replaced. Former benches inside the theater were replaced with plush seats to provide ample leg room, and the capacity was reduced to 1,052 seats.

Peoples Security Bank and Trust Company announced a new partnership with the College in June 2016, creating Peoples Security Bank Theater at Lackawanna College.

The Theater is home to various academic events and is also available to rent from outside organizations (both for profit and nonprofit).
