Nurse Aide Refresher Course

Lackawanna College is offering a Nurse Aide Refresher Course designed for Nurse Aide’s who have completed an approved Nurse Aide Training course in the state of Pennsylvania and whose registration has lapsed.
Under federal requirements, enrollment on the Registry is no longer valid for anyone who was previously on the Registry but has not worked providing nursing related services for a period of 8 consecutive hours for pay, in an approved facility, during a 24 month period.   An approved facility is defined as a nursing home, personal care home, hospital, home health setting or an intermediate care facility.  Self-employment, private-duty, or employments in doctor’s offices are not acceptable forms of work experience for continued enrollment on the registry.
If the requirements are not fulfilled, you then become “inactive” and cannot renew your status.
As a previous active member of the Registry though, you have one opportunity to take and successfully pass the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Examination.  If you successfully pass the examination your status will change to “renewed” on the Nurse Aide Registry.
The Lackawanna College Nurse Aide Refresher Course can assist you in preparing for the skills and written examination needed for you to regain “active” status.
